Stage #3 - Plan Learning Experiences
Learning Objectives
By the end of the session participants be able to:
1. Describe the meaning of the acronym WHERETO.
2. Create learning experiences that are engaging and are in alignment with stages 1 and 2.

Planning Learning Experiences
According to Wiggins and McTighe (2011), learning experiences need to support students higher order thinking and engage them in the materials in a way that supports the "big idea." The activities also need to be assessed with robust evaluative criteria as created in stage 2.

WHERETO
Wiggins and McTighe (2011) have created the acronym WHERETO as a format for planning learning experiences:
W = Where is the unit going; What is expected; Where are students coming from
H = Hook - how will the students be engaged
E = Equip (proper materials), Experience (what are the main ideas), Explore (look beneath of surface of issues)
R = Rethink (go deeper), Revise (update and review work)
E = Evaluate (how will students evaluate their work along the process)
T = Tailored (can all students be equally engaged?)
O = Organize (organizing the sequence of the lesson)

Assignment
Lesson Planning
Review your assignments from stage 1 and stage 2. Now write down the WHERETO acronym. Brainstorm ideas to fill in this acronym remembering how the activities should align with the previous stages.
